the first two eps were so strong BECAUSE they were tightly focused and propulsive with characters that were incredibly specific, seductive and well-drawn (and well-acted); this third ep is like it’s from a weaker, sprawling version of the show that feels it needs to chase down every last plot thread

the more i think about it, the more this should have been a “kill your darlings” situation… we really didn’t need this detour
