They might. Which is not a great scenario. These are 60s and 70s era concrete buildings, which means asbestos. Demolition will be extremely expensive. But that's what these developers do. Leech all the life and money out of a building, and leave the city stuck with the check

I work in one of their buildings. It's a shitshow. Flooding, janky elevators, power surges. We put covers over our work vehicles so the rust dripping from the ceiling doesn't stain them
