Every time I encounter the words “walkie talkie” I feel a real misery in my soul. I’m amazed that “air conditioning”, a sophisticated wording, is the term that won out, rather than “makey coldy” or something similarly stupid

When I worked at DOE in Florida I had a coworker whose cubicle had no window, so as a joke (she was a good sport) I printed out a double paneled window photo with the sky behind it. But she loved it so much that she kept it up for years, which seemed sad after a while.

Made an Ina Garten recipe for steak and it was predictably delicious but somehow, despite its being an Ina Garten recipe, it did not require a half bottle of wine for some purported “reduction” or “deglazing” procedure that’s a thinly disguised artifice for her to consume the 1st half of the bottle
