You're letting yourself get pushed around in this debate bc you're only talking about the "hey fascist catch" evidence and not the gender stuff of Robinson and who he was dating and of their social network in general. It stops being a debate instantly, if you just point that stuff out.

I was mixing up the MacArthur and Pulitizer. Sorry, it's tough to keep track when your cup runneth over so. I wouldnt mind any of that at all, if you recognized the arbitrariness and had some humility. But instead you arrogate to yourself role of final moral arbiter.

I'm not really following the point youre making. There's heavy black representation in some fields and heavy representation by other groups in other fields. This isn't in and of itself a problem--and that was Yglesias' point, which is quite banal and shouldnt be upsetting to anyone

He was just making the point that we don't have to obsess over perfect demographic representation (whatever that means) across every sector of society--just like we don't in sports. I think it's a totally banal point he's making and don't see why people on this thread are melting down over it
