A quick question: wouldn’t Greenland becoming American actually make us (much) more vulnerable to Russian missiles? Or are we already openly admitting that the lives and security of “Greenlandic-Americans” matter less? (image credit: @wsj.com)

European leaders seem to have finally learned a key lesson from #Trump: “painstaking efforts to appease the US president and protect the transatlantic relationship have failed.”

@nathalietocci.bsky.social adds: “it’s high time to straighten our backs and retaliate.” www.ft.com/content/d13b...

So cool to see Nora Neus's #January6 oral history 24 Hours at the Capitol (@beaconpress.bsky.social, 2025) in the wild. President #Trump may disagree, but I still firmly believe “it’s going to require a national reckoning to find our way out of this situation.” @leannschneiderwebb.com

Deeply honored to contribute to RSIS NTU's annual threat assessment report for the Counter Terrorist Trends and Analyses journal. My article looks at trends in Western far-right terrorism in 2025 and beyond. rsis.edu.sg/ctta-newsart...

If I may humbly propose a stocking stuffer: God, Guns, and Sedition: Far-Right Terrorism in America is available in hardback, paperback, Kindle, audiobook, Japanese, and now Spanish. A book about hate and violence that sadly remains all-too-relevant today. www.amazon.com/God-Guns-Sed...

¡Estamos muy emocionados de anunciar que nuestro libro, Dios, armas y sedición, ya está disponible en español!

So excited to report that our book — God, Guns, and Sedition: Far-Right Terrorism in America — is now available in Spanish! Now featuring a new preface by @mldemiguel.bsky.social and an epilogue, and very ably shepherded by the brilliant team at La Tormenta. edicioneslatormenta.com/producto/dio...

Dec. 2 marks 10 years since an ISIS-inspired attack in San Bernardino, CA. Candidate Trump responded by calling for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the US.”

Today, terrorism remains an excuse for anti-immigrant rhetoric and policy—now, “reverse migration.”

Once again: far-right violent extremism poses a significant terrorism and assassination threat to mainstream conservatives and the GOP, and their refusal to excommunicate violent extremists in their midst (C'Ville, J6) is not just a policy failure but a threat to their lives.

“What’s most striking [...] is not just the trollish and at times juvenile tone of official government communications. It’s also an explicitly nativist message.”

Intrepid, indispensable work by Grayson Logue for the conservative @thedispatchmedia.bsky.social. thedispatch.com/article/home...

Astonishing reporting by @rohitkachrooitv.bsky.social and Dan Howells for ITV News, finding that a leading white supremacist (or "ethnocentrist") had worked as a "warden" at Buckingham Palace. He had traveled to meet American neo-Nazis, seeking tactical guidance. www.itv.com/news/2025-11...

No better voice in this tumultuous moment for #Nigeria than my @cfr.org colleague Ebenezer Obadare. He warns #Trump against "going alone, guns blazing," telling @kimbrunhuber.bsky.social such moves will only alienate the US.

Measured and insightful analysis, as always.

A humble question: how many times are we going to enter “a new era/age of political violence” before editors and headline writers realize and accept that domestic terrorism was here all along?

Re-read @timjacobwise.bsky.social's essay “The Face of American Terrorism is White,” available in the compilation Dispatches from the Race War (@citylightsbooks.bsky.social, 2020). Wise lists 90+ “far-right extremists” by name—quite a rebuke to Musk’s claim that “the left is the party of murder.”

"The White House has taken an action that is sweeping in its rhetoric yet almost certainly empty of formal legal effect."

Such great work on #antifa by Thomas Brzozowski, shedding light on a critically important (and thorny) question for @lawfaremedia.org. www.lawfaremedia.org/article/you-...

Tremendous research from Daniel Byman and Riley McCabe finds that "2025 marks the first time in more than 30 years that left-wing terrorist attacks outnumber those from the violent far right." But don't miss the broader picture — depicted in the below graph... www.csis.org/analysis/lef...

AG Pam Bondi: “Our only priority is to continue working together with the FBI to make America safer by ensuring murderers and violent criminals face the most severe justice.”

Maybe the only priority should be *preventing* the murders and violent crime in the first place?

"The fallout from even one successful attack could spark worsening polarization, legitimize government crackdowns, and bolster conspiracy theories."

Perhaps relatedly, @usatoday.com and START UMD offer a grim data point illustrating the impacts of the Trump/DOGE cuts to domestic CT: "The first six months of 2025 saw an 85.5% increase in terrorist attacks within the US compared to ... last year." www.usatoday.com/story/graphi...

"Americans are increasingly living in airtight partisan state and local political bubbles, while being governed nationally by a single individual openly hostile to the interests of half the population." 🎯 @bennsteil.bsky.social @cfr.org @thehill.com thehill.com/opinion/cong...

"American democracy is at present spiraling headlong in the wrong direction."
