Last Christmas in London, apparently, it was de rigeur to take olive oil rather than wine to parties. Down south we took a bottle of best e/v olive oil - happily accepted by the hosts as they are keen cooks with a taste for quality!

My all-time favourite bird - lucky enough to get to Galapagos some years back. Our walking trail passed within less than a metre of a BFB sitting on a nest of eggs, totally unconcerned. And everyone stopped to let several marine iguanas stroll across the path. So uplifting.

Quite so. We’ve always had rescue cats (48 years), except for one fabulous Persian due to Mr P’s longing for one. All have made such lovely memories.

V v sorry to hear. Those of us who have lost pets know well that hurt, and no pet will ever be forgotten by its human. Maybe knowing we did the right thing can be some small consolation.

We’ve seen occasional likely ‘evidence’ that a hedgehog has strolled across our garden, but no actual sightings. Some identifiable paw prints in last winter’s snow, though.
