I did computer work from home using dial-up modem. There wasn't any internet involved, just remote login over phone lines.

Me too. I programmed with punch cards for a theses. Wrote the text on a computer in WordStar and printed it conforming to the typewriter rules at the time on a Diablo daisy wheel printer. So when I turned it in, it was "typewritten." This was 1971.

Typewriters don't make exact copies and don't store data. It's one of their nicer features.

I love mine. Distraction free, runs forever on three AA batteries, light and almost indestructible. Was designed for elementary school kids. No internet connection.

You might look into AlphaSmart and the Neo and Neo2. You get the function of a typewriter and the ability to dump everything you type into any computer. Nothing proprietary, the computer thinks the Neo is a keyboard and acts accordingly. Uses a USB cable normal for printers, old technology.

I always cheer when the election goes against the money. In the final analysis everybody, no matter how rich, gets one vote. It's a good system. Let's keep it.
