Remembering that Epstein of all people said Trump was the worst person he knew with not a single positive quality. Its believable.

And all this has surely stopped Trump's agenda, there's no reason to fear anymore! No more concerns for our elections! Those doomers were so out of touch, just crazy to be so concerned

Its okay. A bit shamelessly indulgent. But I must admit, tho I take no pleasure in it, that some of the songs are catchy. I might be compromised 🫤

As an election doomer myself, im mostly concerned about the midterms and presidential election as I think most of us are. Talk to us then. Ill gladly concede my doomerism if we have real midterms.

I see alot of complaints about costs, esp food, and I wholeheartedly agree but are our consumption habits changing in response? I dont think mine have. I wont speak for others but ive struggled to reduce it. If demand plummets prices will follow but so far we seem to be mostly just taking the hit.

Harris didnt seem to care, Trump openly talked of increasing support for Israel. Your choices were someone who sort of ignored genocide vs someone who openly supported it (along with mundane things like.. fascism). Not great choices and yet, pretty clear which was better

Well, they kept their moral purity and feel good about themselves thats what matters, so what if it doomed so many more of the people they claimed to care about?

I rather enjoy him parodying the absurdity of prez krasnov and his many grifts and forcing a mirror up to the maga crowd. Both the trump & melania coins are virtually worthless now, as the grift goes, so hes a bit late on that but still.

These would just add noise Denny, your posts are the *signal* ❤️😁.

Relevant book. It's a topic that could use plenty more books though, go for it. You can't really talk about American decline or our current fascism without mentioning the Christian dominionists.

Reminds me of Hitchens
"Religion now comes to us in this smiley-face, ingratiating way — because it’s had to give so much more ground and because we know so much more. But you’ve got no right to forget the way it behaved when it was strong, and when it really did believe that it had God on its side"

This is such idiotic reductive reasoning, get off your high horse. A vote for Trump was a vote to support genocide, a vote for Kamala was a vote to ignore genocide & not voting ensured Trump won. Those were the options. Ya'll kept your moral purity, congrats. Genocide continues & democracy dies 👏

Sure, sure. Now tell us which players adp is being unfairly suppressed so we can collectively raise it, we're with you!

The Tripp Lite smart UPCs tied to ES&S and Dominion machines and the manner in which Tripp Lite was sold are both shady. Palantir partnering with Eaton, possibly shady. But I cant find anything showing Starlink being involved. Has anyone found a supporting credible source for that?

Oh I agree. And the messaging during the Harris campaign that the economy was better than ever under Biden and a vote for her was a vote for more of the same, was pretty tone deaf. And yes Mamdani is an amazing candidate I agree. But if Newsom ends up as the nominee he has my vote, thats all.

Im all for marxist revolution, we need to fundamentally rethink/reform our relationship with our planet in general & start embracing regenerative economics & degrowth. But right now we're essentially a nation occupied by a hostile foreign power with our own Caligula. Removing him is step one, imo.
August 20, 2025 at 3:09 PM
Its simple, they have no principles whatsoever other than doing whatever it takes to maintain their money and power. They're purely machiavellian and in that sense, predictable.
August 20, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Newsom is a status quo corpo Dem which, while not great, is def not MAGA equivalent. Trump is a Russian asset working for a transnational crime syndicate. His criminality, Epstein connections, disdain for democracy & his narcissism all set him apart. We dont have to love Newsom but, lets be real.

Taste in fiction is as subjective as in music id say. My dad and I read LOTR together when I was young and it began a lifelong love of reading. A friend of mine read LOTR to his dad on his death bed, his dad's final wish. I wonder if id just been handed the book if it would have had the same effect

So this goes until boomer money transfers and gets spent or until we have an event that terrifies even the young retail investors, even those who have been taught that the market always goes back up and always buy the dip.

The only non-violent option we have left is a general strike and mass boycotts to shutdown the economy

Feels a little surreal sometimes doesnt it? I personally enjoy podcasts on the collapse of the global biosphere while mowing the lawn.
