Tennis ball color marketing in action at the US Open yesterday. Yes, the official US Open drink, cleverly named Honey Deuce, is topped with honeydew melon "tennis balls." Rublev's shoes were a similar vibe. A great slam of color on a perfect NYC day.

Grab your "little black dress" (a.k.a. LBD) and celebrate that Coco Chanel was born on this day in 1883. Chanel introduced the LBD in 1926 as a versatile, modern garment, soon dubbed the “Ford of Fashion” by Vogue for its transformative simplicity. Happy birthday, Coco. The LBD has liberated us all.

Venezuelan artist Carlos Cruz-Diez made color an event. (He was born 102 years ago this weekend.) For him, color was a tool of spatial perception and experience. Yes, with "Grand Transchromie, Paris" in Mexico City, the perceived color of the hanging plexiglass changes as you navigate the space.
