Yeah, i agree. anti cheat is near worthless. It only deters the people at a surface level. Anyone who actually wants to cheat can still find work arounds like the one you mentioned. Every game i play that has a kernel anticheat still has a real cheater problem. Server side info auth would be better

Valve is making a serious move into making SteamOS THE go to OS for gamers. having a home console, a portable console and VR console all running identical OS. they really are building out an amazing ecosystem for people who care about gaming. i really hope its the last nail in the coffin for windows

legitimately the only thing keeping me on windows atm is games with anti cheat. as soon as devs put in the extra 1% effort to makes their multiplayer games available on Linux im off windows for good. im currently running a heavily modded Win11 to strip out all the bullshit bloatware.
