Here's my draft book cover for my novel "Taylaron's Tale"! I'm actually already sharing it on Royal Road, but I thought it would be nice to have a physical copy for myself :)

Chapter 1 snippet for Taylaron's Story by JadieAlissia: I stared at the cakes, muffins and sandwiches lining the counter, willing myself to feel hungry for them. This is the sort of food I should want, the food I can afford. Footsteps clicked in the staffroom behind the counter. A granny shuffled out of the doorway. Her floral apron was covered in white dust and her hair was done up in a messy grey bun. She leaned slightly on the glass of the counter, peering over at the various pastries before glancing up at me. “Are you ready to order something?” I shuffled back a little, shaking my head. An image of my teeth sinking into her neck flashed through my mind, but I tried to ignore it. “No,” I said, “I’m just looking.”

I shut my eyes as Israphaellia’s arrow sped towards the turkey. “I got it!” she said. I opened my eyes reluctantly. The turkey, which had been innocently pecking at grass just seconds before, laid lifeless on the ground. Israphaellia rushed over to the bird, picked it up and carried it to where I stood. “Now, I can show you how to prepare it,” she said, a proud smile on her face. I forced a smile back. She sat down next to the pile of twigs I’d collected for her while she was looking for prey. She plucked the feathers, at which point the turkey started to look like something you’d buy at a butcher instead of a dead animal. The preparation seemed enough to put me off meat forever, so I looked away, not wanting to ruin this meal for myself. Israphaellia held her hand close to the pile of twigs, sending sparks glittering above it. The pile crackled slightly before a few dry leaves caught alight. “Usually, it works better. The twigs are probably still a little moist,” she said. I watched the ambers glow as we waited for the meat to cook. “Your hunting skills are impressive,” I told her. She grinned.
