Yes, this is something I rarely hear brought up in the discussion. A huge amount of our health care $ goes to administration. I'm all for lowering the Medicare age as a start, but a universal plan that cuts out insurance and all that goes with it is a much better goal. Highly unlikely though.

Big companies are still paying quite a bit of money for health insurance. Most of that total cost is currently paid by the employer. Without that in the mix, health insurance premiums would still be really unaffordable for most people.

Sounds like he's suggesting more of a group trust type situation. In which case, sure maybe the rates would be a bit better than a person could get individually, BUT without any subsidy from an employer or the government, the cost would still be sky high for most people.
