Some clear next steps - up the nitrous education!

And encouraging use of whipped cream dispensers in place of handheld crackers will reduce those cold burns!

Unsurprisingly, perceived benefit and harm of the drug influence support for legal change, as does personal experience. In general though, there was little support for harsher penalties.

Of note, less than 30% of consumers knew that nitrous oxide use can impact vitamin B12 - an important piece of information when it comes to nitrous oxide.

Self-reported nitrous oxide knowledge was greater in those with experience than without - but the average number of knowledge items correctly answered was less than half (out of 7)

5.2% of consumers reported persistent numbness in the last 12 months, which could be a signal of underlying neurological issues resulting from use.

Although reported adverse effects were common (e.g. cold burns), less than 6% reported experiencing nitrous oxide harm. But, consumers perceived recreational use as a 6/10 in terms of harm - despite relative safety!

Most people who consume nitrous oxide use small amounts, infrequently, in combination with other drugs - somewhat of a cherry on top of other drug experiences🍒
