With tired muscles they jabbed the knife in between the lungs. The figure flinched and Zaedyn delivered three strikes to its face as the being evaporated into the mist. The werewolf turned back to the car as their body slowly knitted itself back together, blood pooling where the killer once stood over the car. The dying body of their boyfriend was sprawled across the back seat. “Jamie.” They sobbed in a high pitch despite the deepness of their voice in this form. Jamie’s hand touched Zaedyn’s head as he whispered, “I love you.” just loud enough for each to hear. Both had tears in their eyes. “Run. Live. Find happiness. I’ll… be… waiting…” His lips curled into a smile and went still. Zaedyn felt a knot of loss grow in their chest. With teary eyes they struggled to push it down, only for a song of mourning to echo in the landscape, their head thrown to the sky.
