My wife describes me as a useless Twitcher, my niece says I am a burden. They are not wrong.

Interests mainly Welsh Birding, Irish Rugby, UK Wildlife, trying not to get involved in online discussion with Muppets or Bots.
I went over four times during the cold spell, the highlights were a single snipe (one day) and a max of 3 Pochard.

Stay on it, it will turn again, it did "got it" him "yes, but I can't see a bill" me it's walked off "where!!". Mate was on a lump of mud on the opposite side of the 2m gap in the reeds, looking at a rail sized lump of mud. Luckily the bird came out the other side of a clump of reeds & walked about

They weren't common in that area, even with trees/scrub around the East Docks & Penarth Moors in the late 70's & early 80's. Green Wood/Nuthatch/Tree Creepers always notable. A Green Wood nearly arrowed into my forehead as it came low over the top of a tussock on the moors! Who was more surprised??

It's a whole new genre of listening for me. Baba O'Riley now.

Most of the Starlings came in and straight down but there was one genuine WOW short-lived swirl, one Marsh Harrier, a Sparrowhawk and a Kestrel with squealing Water Rail, calling Snipe, warblering Cettis. It was all very pleasant at the bottom of Saltmarsh Lane.
