28. Lover of games (Sonic, Metroid, Tales) and animanga (FMA, Oregairu, MHA). Just an all around nerd.
The leads have fantastic chemistry and the story, while I kinda knew what to expect, was thrilling and engaging the whole way. Now I will definitely have to check out the source material to see how this whole thing really started. Great movie!

That said when I heard it was getting an anime film I had to check it out and while I do hear that this is still a different take on the story from the source material, I had a great time. Fantastic animation coupled with incredible sound design especially in a cinema.

All You Need is Kill - So I saw that Tom Cruise movie 'Edge of Tomorrow' way back when it came out and always heard it was based off of the manga/novel 'All You Need is Kill'. Even after getting more into reading manga/LNs' I never checked it out.

I seriously don't understand, considering this is still pretty much a straight adaptation of the material it chooses to focus on, some stuff isn't going to make sense for anime-onlys. This was such a peak adaptation until now. Now it's peak, with a very large asterisk.

Thank you, Horikoshi Kohei and for one last time.

GO BEYOND! PLUS ULTRA!

It feels odd to truly be without MHA now. No longer will I have another season of the anime to look forward to. It's all over and you know what? I'm so glad I was here for it. To experience this story that taught me what it truly means to be a hero.

A fucking amazing final bit for the anime to go out on though. Bones pulled out all the stops for these last 11 episodes and never once did they miss. Capturing the spirit and ideas behind the last stretch of the manga, expanding upon it and bringing it to life with amazing animation and acting.

My Hero Academia: Final Season - With this, the series that I have been dedicatedly following for the last 8 years come to an end. A part of my life ends. The manga ending last year nearly broke me, but thankfully I go through this, while still getting very emotional, without the waterworks.

It's got a lot of problems and ultimately is probably my least favorite of the numbered Prime titles, but that doesn't change the fact that I'm just happy it exists. And who knows, maybe a Prime 5 could happen? Ah, one can only dream.

Maybe it's just a part of me that yearns for another truly non-linear Metroid experience. Last one we had was Prime 2 and that was in 2005.

All that said did I still like Prime 4? Fuck yeah I loved it. It's a welcome return to the series that spawned my favorite game of all time.

You also couldn't stray off your set path in that game and it would also tell you precisely where you needed to go. Which while I do love Fusion stuff like that makes subsequent playthroughs less and less interesting. Prime 4 falls into a very similar trap.

The biggest issue of all comes from the structure. Prime 4 is oppressively linear and even hand holdy. No matter what you do you can not stray from the beaten path and the game will remind you numerous times of exactly where you need to go. In a way it reminds of Metroid Fusion.

It is Metroid Prime through and through. Boss fights are fast paced and frantic fun and when the game does allow you to explore it's so much fun. That gets into my two main issues. Firstly the load times on Switch 1 can be pretty long, about 45 seconds. Thankfully they're not frequent but still.

The Prime gameplay that I know and love is here and accounted for. It's like no time passed between this and Corruption. So much of playing this game reminds me of when I first played the OG Prime trilogy. Scanning everything to learn more lore about the world and the people.

So how's the long awaited Prime 4? Well there's some give and take. The game looks and plays phenomenally well, even on Switch 1 which is what I played. Not a frame drop in sight and though the resolution may not be as crisp it still looks incredible.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - After 8 years, it's finally here. Anyone who knows me knows I fucking love Metroid. Metroid Prime is my favorite game of all time, Prime 2 is also one of my all time favorites and Prime 3 while being the weakest of the trilogy IMO was still fantastic.
