I’m not so sure about that. I find the sentiment concerning as well, don’t get me wrong. Bill Maher falls squarely off my barometers for wisdom & empathy.

To be clear, review bombing (especially just to be a jerk) is not cool. But this is not just review bombing; it's genuine frustration from a player-base who wants the game to be better.
