Gonna try to beat an average of a game a week in 2025! Let’s do it!
NUMBER. 52.

POCO THE CLOWN.

We end this year, and this insane goal while being a parent and having a full time job, with a free game that’s downloadable on steam, Poco the Clown.

Simple point and click with an INCREDIBLE art style! A small morsel of a game with great art and charm. 8/10!

#51: Thank Goodness You’re Here!

What a fun lil comedy game! Not much gameplay, but a great quirky comedy that is easy to relax to and enjoy with friends. Silly British humor and writing definitely make this a great afternoon spent. 8.5/10.

#50: The Lightkeeper.

What a great, short horror game. Very well made, great one night of spooky times experience. 9/10 for what it’s trying to do. Can’t say it’s quite perfect. But for scope, it NAILS an intense short form horror game. Go grab it.

#49, 3 games and 2 days to go!

The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog

Wow! Little fun free game on steam that I really enjoyed! While not complicated(simple puzzles), and a fun sonic running minigame as the core, they built a fun, throwaway story anyone can enjoy. Again, free, and a solid 7/10!

#48: Dr.Langeskov, The Tiger, and The Terribly Cursed Emerald

Palate cleaner after a sad silent hill, this is short, sweet, FREE and very delightful in the vein of many walking simulator comedies that have come before.

Fun little bite sized experience not to be missed. 8/10.

Again, free.

#47: Silent Hill 2 Remake

Blooper team beat the odds and created a modern classic. Inarguably the best modern horror not named Resident Evil, Silent Hill 2 has brilliant writing and devastating characters. Combat and puzzles are fun, but the writing is some of the best in games ever. Rare 10/10.

Game #46: Tick Tock A Tale for Two

Fun little coop game that needs to copies, but has a very good puzzle system that can be enjoyed and beaten in a couple of hours. Delightful ending and a great coop experience with a loved one or friend. 8/10, and very inexpensive!

Game #45: Super Mario Galaxy.

Never really played it on the wii(wasn’t a Wii fan), but finally got to it on switch. Very good Mario chapter if you can accept the motion controls, and I intend on eventually playing galaxy 2. 8.5/10.

Game #44: Horizon: Zero Dawn Remastered

Eh. The biggest eh I can give. Gameplay and structure was kinda modern Assassin's Creed, but WOW that story is awful. The acting is awful, the "selling" of the characters is awful. Come for the world and gameplay, but don't hope the story gets better. 6/10.

Game 43: Kirby and the Forgotten Worlds

Had this one for awhile and never got around to finishing it. Great platformer that showcases just how awesome Kirby can be. Easy to play, hard to master, best Kirby game in a long time 9/10.

Game #42: Keeper

Absolute delight of an adventure. Very off the wall but not in the way Double Fine usually runs. Little short but sweet. Very well made. Came for the visuals, stayed for the art. 8/10.

Game #41: Jurassic World Evolution 3

While a complicated single player compared to previous entries, the writing still falls a bit short.

That said, this is the best management sim out there, zero question. Perfect “Sim game made better. 9/10.

Game #40: Adios

40 is a really excellent premise that has a really…anticlimactic ending. BRILLIANT writing, flawless premise, I just feel that the delivery and the ending wasn’t what it needed to be.

8/10.

Game 39! No-Skin!

Weird little lovecraftian rogue like. Very different and interesting. Great execution for the scope(smaller indie game), and great art and an interesting story.

9/10. Excellent!

Game 38! I’m worried I’m not gonna make it through 14 games in less than 2 months! Ahhhh!!

Daemonologie is a good but bit shallow take on The Crucible. Absolutely stunning cutscenes make this well worth the sub $3 price tag tho. Enjoy this completely normal sheep from the game, 7/10

Just beat Battlefield 6

Jesus that was awful. Terrible writing, terrible characters. Just…man, d tier military writing.

2/10.

Game 36 is one a long time coming. Space Marine II.

I bought it the week before my daughter was born last year, and had to do bigger deeds in the meantime.

Brilliant game. Worthy of the best 3rd person action games like gears of wars 9/10, such a great ride!!!

Game #35 is a bit of an oddball. Cruisin’ Blast is a throwback to the Nintendo 64 “Cruisin’ USA” series, and it’s great! Beat the single player mostly as a techno, rocket boosted triceratops, but also dabbled as a UFO and a Chevy Camaro. Exactly the arcade racer you want it to be. 8/10, pretty good!

One of the best games I’ve ever played. Probably the best 3rd person action game since Witcher 3.

Game #34 is Ghost of Tsushima: Directors cut. This means I beat the regular story and Island of Iki.

Gorgeous, breathtaking, fun combat and a woven world; GOTY material in any year easily. 10/10

For game #33, it’s a big one.

Starfield, a game I played a lot of but never got to the singularity, is beaten. I wanted to like this game so badly, but I think the writing falls a bit flat. Games like outer worlds and fallout beat it pretty handily. Great combat and really compelling visuals. 7/10

Game 32 is “Darkside Detective”! Fun little point and click with good writing that gives “light”spooky vibes. If you’re looking for something friendly for Halloween this is the perfect game for it. 8.5/10.

Game #31 is Cibele! Really interesting game by Nina Freeman, it explores an autobiographical relationship she had with a guy online…never seen anything really like it. Very personal, very much a statement for games as art. My biggest critique is that there’s not much gameplay, but overall well done.

My 30th game in 2025 is “Star Ocean: The Second Story R”. Super high quality JRPG, and does a phenomenal job recreating the fun of the original game. Stunning remaster that makes the Steamdeck sing, one of the best games I’ve beaten this year easily. 10/10. It’s THAT good.
August 23, 2025 at 10:31 AM
Game #29 is “Still Wakes the Deep”. Pretty intense horror game that really gets at the claustrophobic and body horror parts of your brain. If you’re looking for a fun, short, great way to spend a Saturday, lock in and get it. Great game.
8,5/10

Game #28 is Mail Mole! “A charming platformer”, even if it’s a little rough around the edges. Fun and novel, you’re digging underground through the whole game, very different from others I’ve played recently. 7/10
