Didn't Dems try this under Biden with the J6 commission? It proved ineffective. The only people who tuned in were already tuned in. Most of the nation was oblivious to its existence, let alone its findings.

For my mind, one large piece of it is Trump demands credit at every opportunity, meanwhile Biden was (or at least seemed from the outside) to be happy enough with the accomplishment being achieved and left the press mostly to make up their own story as to how much credit he deserved.

I find this troubling. What we've seen in the US is that the loss of the old guard on the right has accelerated the depths of the maga movement and given it further license to indulge in its worst ideas. Though I'm not a conservative, I think it's better for them to stay inside the party and fight.
