With Sussan Ley becoming Liberal leader, it's a good time to learn about the glass cliff: when a woman is given a poisoned chalice (e.g. leading a party in chaos after its worst-ever defeat). When it fails, they say "Well, we gave a woman a shot" and move on to a more conservative choice. #auspol

Learning about all the dodgy, anti-competitive stuff Bunnings has been up to hits weirdly hard. It’s one of those brands I and many others loved for some reason. Like when your favourite celeb turns out to be a predator. Just leaves you with this strange sense of betrayal. #auspol #bunnings

Bunnings is Australia's most trusted brand, but are customers actually getting the deal they think they are?

Liberal Party begin multimillion dollar process of trying to figure out the flaw in their strategy of announcing unpopular policies, agreeing with a Neo-Nazi, and saying the other major party will make Australia feel like Sesame Street

Why don’t we talk more about the fact it’s been five years since the COVID vaccine, and literally none of the conspiracy theories came true? Honestly, we need a public directory of all the grifters who tried to cash in on the chaos. #auspol #covid #disinformation

"another three years to do some proper policy work" is the most diplomatic burn against the coalition's bad nuclear policy I've seen 😂
Finally the 2024 Dutton commissioned report - which understated current cost of building in comparable countries and compared two different scenarios to make the cost look better. It is unclear to me what the Nationals are signed up to. Another three years to do some proper policy work on this.

Gobsmacked. After the Coalition’s worst election defeat in history, Nationals deputy leader Bridget McKenzie says she and her party will still back the Coalition’s disastrous nuclear policy. #auspol #ausvotes #qanda

With Labor’s landslide victory, it will be up to us to hold them accountable. No matter your politics, 'your side' isn’t always right. I do trust Albo, but let’s make sure @australianlabor.bsky.social keep their promises. #auspol #ausvotes

I'm grateful that in Australia, leaders can win, and more importantly, lose with grace. Recent global events are a stark reminder of how rare and valuable this is. #auspol #ausvotes

Hopefully today's election results sends a clear message to the Liberals: trying to stoke a culture war is a losing strategy #ausvotes #auspol

Voters deserve better than spam texts and misinformation.

I've long called for truth in political advertising laws and a ban on unsolicited political messages. It's time our electoral laws caught up with community expectations.

Does anyone else feel like #AI right now is the early internet all over again, wild, open, and full of discovery? But with this creeping dread, that it's the calm before the storm before the algorithms get rigged and the billionaire-backed #Disinformation floods in?

ANOTHER Liberal Party ad truck has crashed into a pre-polling booth (this is now 3). If we ever needed a clearer sign that veering too far to the right is dangerous, this is it. #auspol

Just read @charlottegrieve.bsky.social's article in the age. It's a masterclass in investigative journalism. No spin, no clickbait, just a meticulous unraveling of a political candidate’s 'business dealings'. This reminds me what journalism was like 10 years ago. Highly recommended read.

A Liberal candidate in suburban Melbourne paints himself as a successful “small businessman”. I started looking into his businesses, and found some very surprising results.

Gina Rinehart, Australia’s richest billionaire, cheered on Trump at his inauguration & called his divisive politics a model for Australia. She’s also thrown her support behind Peter Dutton, urging us to ‘watch and learn’ from Trump’s playbook. Is this the leadership we want shaping our nation?

Astronomers found 128 new "moons" around Saturn. Some are small, couldn't even support one ewok. Rocks basically. So, Pluto isn't a planet anymore, but any random rock orbiting Saturn is a moon? Scam. #space
