An Abundance movement quickly formed around the book that seemed more interested in backing the moderate establishment wing in intra-Democratic party fights than they were in the book itself. (i.e. Ritchie Torres, Matt Yglesias, etc.)

Not an answer to what I asked. You say the ends justify the means, so own what that really mean: you would sacrifice anyone, up till a point that you can’t or won’t name.

I believe the point of politics is to gain and wield power to repair the world, and that if you follow the logic of the ends justifying the means past a certain point you are no longer engaged in that work. It’s easier for people to imagine winning by causing harm than imagine winning any other way

So, ends justify the means. In this case, hundreds of thousands more dead, massive recession, unemployment around 20%, all born by the most marginalized in our society.

Like the underlying assumption is dubious and the actual means are clearly evil. This is a murc’s law + Dems just gotta adjust the dial like a price is right contestant combo. For better or worse, people who think like this cannot and do not get elected.

I understand the logic but this is not in any way distinct from saying that the Dems should throw a marginalized group under the bus to win. “We gotta accept/cause some suffering because the ends justify the means.” All predicated on the idea that America can even learn from the touching the stove.

So let’s be clear about the implication here. Would you agree the outcome of that would be:
Hundreds of thousands more dead
Unemployment pushing north of 15%
Much worse recession

He didn’t win off covid stimulus, he lost an election a few months after. The degree to which he won off covid stimulus in 2024 is debatable

I do not owe my career in any way to my boss’s name or clout, nor is my boss themself synonymous with the work that I’ve done. My work is submitted and recognized under my own name, not my boss’s. My work is often independent.

Exact opposite for many hill offices. This creates some culture issues.

LAWSUIT UPDATE RE: NATIONAL GUARD IN PORTLAND: The Ninth Circuit just granted an administrative stay preserving the status quo: the Oregon National Guard remains federalized but the president cannot deploy them.
