RIP any physical media. Also RIP a massive swathe of classic WB content as Netflix seems allergic to having anything on their service from the 70s or earlier.

Oh lord. I've been going through the Evercade carts and this is on the first Piko cart (who seem to have general publishing rights for both this and Skulljagger) and was my first time being aware of it.

It honestly feels like somebody tried to replicate Aladdin from memory after a brain injury.

I always seem to go back for Nancy drew related shenanigans whenever I hear about Hark a Vagrant comics.

*goes down the rabbit hole of international Kitchen Nightmares, Hells Kitchen and Top Chef*

Apparently there was a Swedish version of top chef but it lasted a grand total of one season.

Makes me think of the Australian version... A little... I sort of want to know just 'how' bad the Swedish version is.....

Fix it Felix visiting many different games. But which games.... Hm.

So is the pack worth it? I would still say yes. The price is more than fair for what's on here (It's just a little over what you would pay for a standard Arcade Archives title) and it's still a fun little treasure trove, even if, once again, it feels like I'm only reading half a book.

Btw: I don't hold a lot of these issues at @digitaleclipse.bsky.social feet. Namco is notoriously private and they are VERY strict and stingy with what they allow out of the doors.

Like I feel if Digital Eclipse got it's way, we would have absolutely seen Pole Position, the Xevious 2600 proto etc.

The quick fade of the timeline and the lack of input from anyone at Namco does also mean that it feels like an unfinished book.

Sure it's a nice book and for a retro game nerd like myself, being able to compare and contrast the ports is quite fun.... It constantly feels like something is missing.

It also doesn't help that it feels like there's some omissions. While I completely get the absence of Mrs Pac-Man (legal issues) and the Midway produced Pac-Man titles like Professor Pac-Man and Pax-Man Jr (again likely legal problems), the omission of Pole Position is a weird one.

However notice I said "first half" - the second half kicks in with all the various Namco Atari ports (and a few arcade versions) and it's as if it morphs into a more detailed Namco museum.

This isn't totally a bad thing but it does feel like the Atari element just becomes a footnote.
