Barista 👱🏻‍♀️: Wait, you're famous right?
Me, who should have just said no: … heh, maybe maybe not.
👱🏻‍♀️: You've done voice acting?
Me, who should have just said no: I've had a couple small parts in GenLOCK, but not famous by any means. I swear!
👱🏻‍♀️: uh huh suuure

Her, every time I enter that Starbucks now:

Still pretty upset they didn't choose 23 Jump Street

"Here's one of me walking up some autumnal steps. Here's me strolling down a snowy mountainside. This is a lovely one of me burning down a village brimming with my enemies. Oh, look at this one of us apple picking! So sweet."

They released the film with one of my titles, with advance permission*

It's so weird seeing something I suggested on a movie theater marquee!

After a shit year, it's nice feeling useful for a change.

Someone on Reddit made a post on r/filmmakers asking for help titling their movie about filmmakers affecting the multiverse. It's Reddit so a lot of people weren't helpful haha, so I replied genuinely with a list of titles.

A year later, they released their feature film with one of my titles 🥹
A screenshot of a Reddit reply containing a list of titles James provided. Quote

• Multiversal Studios
• Jump Cut (as in a jump in time or jumping dimensions)
• [The name of the inter dimensional weapon]
• Dimensions of Filmmaking
• Sorry Our Film Broke The Universe
• 23 Jump Street.

End Quote Title card of the movie, "Sorry Our Film Broke The Universe" A movie marquee that reads, quote

Now Showing: Sorry Our Film Broke The Universe

haha I'm not sure, when would that be?

I'm pretty sure I've watched Sherlock and Mummies Alive back to back on some Saturday morning. Late 90s early 2000s, but pre Jackie Chan Adventures

Do they never explain that? That's insane, I would have guessed it was Back to the Future rules and not Superman 1/2 rules…

Man, I wonder if this is on some streaming service. It was such an interesting concept, feels like a good comfort binge

A major catastrophe happens (terror attacks, earthquakes, etc) every week, so they shot a man in a time machine orb into space and he renters Earth seven days in the past to stop the incident.

The show was cancelled 3 months before September 11, 2001, at a time we needed it most.

TV show version of this: Do any of y'all remember the show Seven Days?

For years I just convinced myself I made this shit up

oh my god a Mario Kart station, 200cc, Rainbow Road, every time you fall off you have to answer an exam question.

Finish and you get a driver's license.
Get a question wrong and you have to restart the level at lap 1

"It can be free if you beat me in Marvel vs Capcom 2 right now!"

The DMV would be so much better if they added a few arcade cabinets.

Yeah he also had a handful of short stories and novellas. I've only read his shorter/lighter stuff because, I'll be honest with you, I don't have the heart nor the attention sufficiency for his Cosmere universe haha

Heh that's interesting, when I go on a tech binge my Kindle is the only thing on! Mainly for the accessibility, difficult to abandon.

If you haven't read it yet, Sanderson's "Skyward" series is very digestible. Soft sci-fi, young adult, deceptive page count. I'd say it's, uh, futuristic Top Gun?
