i think the key to understanding a lot of establishment discourse is that basically only the left and liberals are capable of being viewed as subjects capable of judgement which is why GOP rule is essentially treated as a force of nature

But no let's set up new laws to be enforced as poorly as the existing laws. Let's attach stigma to e-bikes that isn't even appropriate because opinion authors don't understand the distinctions and don't care. That'll solve the problem of ineffective enforcement!

The hooliganism he describes is easily addressed by existing law. An assault from an electric motorcycle is still an assault. Parents can easily be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor if they provide electric motorcycles to underage kids.

An e-bike has a pretty strict definition. If these bikes are going as fast as he thinks they are they're not e-bikes. If they're primarily throttle operated they're not e-bikes.

But even more importantly -- nothing he describes in this article as something approaching a menace is an e-bike.

you don't just walk into the street the second the lights are activated -- you still have look both ways. unless this electric motorcycle was moving at a speed beyond the speed of light a quick check both ways before crossing would have made it clear traffic was still coming.
