Best @melissalucash.bsky.social lab meetings are ones where we scheme how we are going to tackle #LANDIS-II related tasks as a team. In this case we are calibrating tree growth for a few different projects and landscapes.

With all the news of Pebble making a comeback with open software and a new watch, I dug this fun relic out for its first firmware update in 7 years.

I seriously love my public library! They didn’t have a book I wanted to read, so I filled out a suggestion form on their phone app. Two weeks later I got a notice that the book was purchased and ready for pick up at my local branch.

I was impressed today at the turnout here in Redmond, OR. Way more impressed when I got home and saw the turnouts in cities all over the country! Great job today showing up today for science, social security, the economy, treating all people with dignity, etc. We need more of this “good trouble”!

Got out to check out some old growth stands at the H.J. Andrews and the McKenzie Land Trust Stage 8 restoration site on our final day of #NWSA2025. Really neat to tie in all the great PNW forest talks from the meeting with some time out actually in the field.

Our new paper is out in Forest Ecology and Management!
Utilizing data from multiple forest inventory programs, we created 35 spatially complete estimates of forest structure and composition across the coastal regions of Alaska and British Columbia. 🌍🌐

Is this really how much space Windows really needs to just operate or is there something wrong here... 200GB seems insane for OS operation.

Turns out that this years capital Christmas tree is from the Tongass! Specifically Zarembo Island. That means, in some way, @trevorstreetalk.bsky.social and I modeled this trees existence before it ended up here in DC.

Excited for #AGU24? So are we! The #TEEL lab has talks focusing on fire and vegetation dynamics in boreal AK, species composition shifts in Siberia, and forest structure in southeast AK and BC.

Experienced one of the cyclones I’ve been modeling while up here in Port Angeles. Pretty mellow down here on the coast, but the Olympics seemed to get a fair amount of snow! Looks like a lot of snow for the cascades came in too!!!
