This is one of those 2 minute warnings where i’m terrified of mistakes… #SEAvsSF

All my regular news/content sources are going behind paywalls. I get people need to get paid for work but having a subscription because I want to look at one article isn't where I want to go.

Kind of wish web-wide microtransactions were a thing. I know i'd regret it, but...

New #astronomy project; Elephant Trunk Nebula (IC1396a) using the new MultiscaleAdaptiveStretch in pixinsight. For it to work, it did require some pre-processing otherwise MAS just came out black without any nebulosity.

Regardless of how this game comes out, the Falcons are just amped.

For my part, I’m just hoping this gets the announcers to stop starting their broadcasts with “the Rams are feasibly the best team in football right now”…

I wanted to make pho yesterday so I dropped down to the butcher and marrow bones for soup were $40 for 5 lbs.

There's affordability, and then there's WTF. $8/lb soup bones is over the top. #cooking

A reminder, New Years’ Day morning; a coffee, your laptop, and sit down to unsubscribe to all the mailing lists your holiday purchases got you on. It’s easy to find them with all the last minute sales spam they added.

Internet outage is a fabulous time to get out those DVD’s or LP’s you’ve been keeping around forever and never get back to.

I don’t repost TikTok ever - but Arlo Guthrie reprising Alice’s Restaurant live seems too appropriate to skip. www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8UD5yp3/

Maybe 50% more of the Alton Brown egg nog recipe was more than I needed this year. 3 750ml bottles and a 2qt jar is a lot.

Never knew how frustrating an #astronomy mosaic can be to process. Six panel M31 (Andromeda); AstroPixelProcessor for stacking, PI for stitching and post-processing. Probably a bit heavy handed, took a lot of work to remove the stitching of the frames.

Qualifying F1 in Vegas being a rainy mess was not on my bingo card. Long, wet, tracks surrounded by concrete barriers is a stress to watch.

All I’m asking is for Friday’s #SEAvsLAR to be a good game. Of course Seahawks should win, but I just don’t want any blowouts…

ChatGPT Atlas is fascinating. Had a conversation with chatgpt about telescope optical tube I was purchasing on Ebay, and what accessories I'd need to integrate it into my astrophotography setup. #astronomy

Seahawks blowout after a fun F1 race and a Bloody Mary makes for a fabulous Sunday.

Switched from Hulu TV to YoutubeTv, and now due to the Google/disney spat I’m missing the Brazil F1 this weekend.

The streaming wars are stupid.

Both kids are out earning some side money today and the wife and I are home readying for football. I think that’s a life goals achieved moment.

Good game Mariners. So close. Next year.

I have an ask, as they say:

My newsletter is always free on Monday. Please share it with a nerd you know! I love astronomy and space, and I bet you know a lot of folks who do too. My whole point is to get the word out, and you can help immeasurably with that. Thanks!
In this corner: OCSN-49, a star cluster with hundreds of members wandering the galaxy

And in THIS corner: a diffuse giant molecular cloud with 100,000 times the Sun's mass just minding its own business

It's the CLASH of the EONS! Who will win?

Star cluster vs. giant molecular cloud: who wins?
The answer surprised me, and I do so love being surprised.

So is the next Home Server instead a shared bank of gpu’s and models for home computing devices of all sorts to use?
