Last week, I posted a pic of Kingdom of Bones discovered at the Waldorf Astoria. A longtime friend was in a library at a small village in Iceland (Nýheimar, population 2000) and asked about a certain author, who wrote a thriller set in their country.

Charlie and I went on an exploratory hike. Found a few Native American grinding rocks…and some ducks. Of course, Charlie found the ducks more interesting. What unusual discoveries have you made while hiking?

As many of you guessed from the prior post, the Sigma team has doubled in number. Meet Kilo and Foxtrot (Foxy). A couple “double doodle” sisters, who have proven to be “double" trouble—okay, actually they’ve been good pups. And as you can see in the pics, Charlie and Echo are adjusting.

Haven’t shared something yet…BUT here is a not-so-subtle clue to something I’ve kept under wraps. Can you guess the meaning?

The Waldorf Astoria hotel in NYC went thru a $2 billion remodel. The new rooms look wonderful and clearly from their book selection in this room, the designer has great taste. (thanks, Earl and Leslie for sharing these pics!).

I had a great conversation with AI scientists at Cold Springs Harbor Laboratory, where cutting-edge research is being conducted into the future of AI. I wrote a whole Sigma thriller on this subject (Crucible) a few years back, so I was excited to learn where AI is at today and in the future.

Happy Fourth of July!! I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe celebration with friends and family. Got all of that descending on the household today—plus a few extra dogs (but they're Chihuahuas, so they don’t take up much room). What’s your plans? Send pics of your festivities!

Got a chance to join TERC (Tahoe Environmental Research Center) and get out on the lake to see how they conduct their scientific projects. Could a future book be set here? Even got a chance to visit one of their buoys chocked full of equipment and is a part of a NASA project, too.

Seems the Easter Bunny was only fooling about springtime. Got a “bit” of snow last night. Time to break out the shovels again.

For a limited time, the ebook edition of THE BONE LABYRINTH is discounted to $1.99. Not sure when this deal ends, but figured I’d pass on the word. Especially as it’s one of my favorite Sigma novels…mostly due to the introduction of Baako, the sign-language speaking hero of the book.

About to head out in a couple days to attend Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle. I’ll be on a panel this Sunday (12:15pm in room 343), where I’ll be speaking about incorporating science in your novels with Annalee Newitz who writes for New Scientist magazine—

Safely back home until my book signing @ B&N in Roseville, California, on Saturday. But I couldn’t leave the Poisoned Pen without grabbing a couple copies signed by Soraya Corcoran for my own collection.

No need to go to the gym today. Time to shovel the slop after a very wet storm passed thru. They call this “Sierra Cement” for a very good reason. Makes me look forward to my trip to Phoenix/Scottsdale next Monday for the beginning of the book tour.
