When I put something in my basket online and um and ah about buying it, if I get an email from the company telling me 'You've forgotten something!' and urging me to check out, it immediately makes me choose not to buy it. Creeps.

On the M3 today, I was disappointed to not receive the cake I was promised at the roadworks. I now realise that the electronic sign was faulty and it was meant to read 'TAKE CARE THROUGH ROADWORKS'.

I don't want to speak too soon, but in summer school this year, the incoming Year 7s were much more resilient and independent than in previous years. I think – I hope – things might be levelling out again...
