Some editors don't want to be social friends with creative people that work in the industry, just because they may end up working with them. That makes working with them (or not working with them) complicated.

I did not know you lived in Ottawa.

Yes and inventing shit that can easily be disproven, will be disproven with a loud corporate media microphone and will make Doug Ford more popular, not less.

Christ. I don't even draw and hate to think how much time that one page must have taken.
I guess he never learned the Neal Adams "don't draw a crowd scene, imply a crowd scene" advise.
Then again Neal himself would ignore that advise on occasion.

In Canada there has been some public pressure for our government to get off X. I know our Supreme Court decided to stop posting on it last February.

I thankfully got to meet him last year. I drove 3.5 hour to Rochester, NY just to do so.

The term Comic Book was originally for a collection of comic strip reprints. I have no idea what they call those things now, but I don't recall seeing any of them advertised as comic books.

I agree that Eisner popularized Graphic Novel. I think what a comic book was was so ingrained in people's minds I'm not sure anybody would have accepted another term with the word comic in it. I think Comic Book is a bad term for comic books. It's normally a small magazine at best.

I don't think we should blame that in the term, but instead of the snobbish people. My Interview with Richard Kyle is here for those who want to read about his intentions for the term and views. jamiecoville.com/blog/blog/20... 5/5

Kyle's ideal graphic novel would have been a Steranko Shield story without the comics code censorship and with Steranko doing his best work without monthly deadline pressures. Sadly the term has at times been co-oped by others and turned it into a snobbish label. 4/5

In 1964 comic were still aimed at kids and outside of Kirby and Ditko, most comic books had multiple short stories within their 32 pages. Kyle wanted novel length stories in a book, aimed at adults and done by artists could do their best work instead of the best they could do under deadline. 3/5

upcoming work The First Kingdom a Graphic Novel, which he like heard from Kyle's writing. When Eisner then used the term when trying to sell A Contract with God and claimed he invented it, but he would say in interviews towards the end of his life that he did not invent the term. 2/5

Sort of. Richard Kyle came up with the term Graphic Novel in Capa Alpha #2 in 1964. He was coming up with a new term for a new type of comic, long comic in a book format that would entertain him as an adult. Eisner heard of the term (for sure from Jack Katz who wrote to Eisner, calling his 1/5

Half of me wonders if he was really that crazy with the conspiracy theory stuff, or if he was just playing that role because it was lucrative and he didn't know where else to go after being Governor.

My hypothesis is the Invincible series on Netflix. It seems that teens (possibly mostly boys) found it and loved it due to how violent it was. That lead to them buying the trades/compendiums and now they are buying the Absolute & Ultimate lines.

Fascists get off on being feeling powerful, cruel and feared. They are covering for him and nothing legal will happen to him. This is a recruitment video in their eyes. Hate people and want to murder them with no provocation? Join Ice. You can do exactly this and get away with it.

I have an aunt that lives in Smith Falls. I haven't been there in a while but it's a nice little town.

I guess Andrew Tate and his like demonstrated there are ways to monetize masculine insecurity. There is plenty of gold in them hills.

We can't get women to eat this shit, so we'll tell stupid men that they're not manly if they don't buy our crap.

That is great. I remember when somebody gifted me 2 issues of DP7 I did not have when I was trying to complete the series. An amazing feeling of gratitude.
