Minnesotan by choice, very intelligent, nature-lover, parent and reluctant optimist.
"How would you feel if someone was "joking" about kidnapping your father, your sister, your friend and illegally imprisoning, with an extra layer of primal fear..."

'"Are you really comfortable with this? Spending $450 million each year to keep 5,000 people in degrading and dangerous conditions?"

"I don't like that term. The forceful abduction of countless families and caging them like animals, then giving it a "cute" name, does not reflect my values."

"I can't continue this conversation. Hearing cruelty being played for a joke is painful for me..."

My suggestion is that people of compassion need to stop it. We can establish a firm boundary and call it out every time. Trump reminds an addict; they will NEVER stop testing the limits you impose on them by trying to be healthy. Here are some ideas to tell others who you are:

RE: Alligator Alcatraz

This language, this "joke" is going right up to the edge and testing the sound bites of genocide. Trump and his people are masters at gauging the Overton Window of the worst instincts of American humanity.

This is not a Republican versus Democrat issue, this is about the sanctity of the United States and the protection of our Constitution!

They are taking away our power and the power of our elected representatives.

The time for action is now! I beg you to call your representatives, register your disapproval that an unelected person has taken your information, your data and your privacy.

While the Justice Dept. catches up, Elon Musk is reviewing the Treasury Department data and announcing on X, what he believes are "illegal payments". All funds released by the Treasury Department were approved by Congress, Elon Musk, or even President Trump, can't arbitrarily decide otherwise.

Elon Musk is not a government employee, in fact he and his companies receive massive competitively bid contracts every year. DOGE is not an organization approved by Congress. It has no authority, as the courts will inevitably rule. Of course that will take time.

That data has been compromised and is no longer secure. Any financial transactions you have ever had with the federal government is in Elon Musk's hands. This includes social security numbers, tax records, Medicare and Medicaid payment information, student loan data, all of it.

I can confidently say, that NO ONE I know voted to put their private data and the ability of the U.S. Government to make payments into the hands of Elon Musk. A small team of young men, acting under Musk's direction have accessed the computer system of the U.S. Treasury.

AMERICANS who voted for President Trump: there is a critical issue happening right now.

I believe many people voted for President Trump for different reasons than I voted for former President Biden. For some, it's concern about immigration, for others it is about crime or the price of groceries.

At the con law conference, a group of us at breakfast had an impromptu discussion of originalism as the "Raw Milk" constitutional theory: It presents itself as pure and unadulterated, and harkens back to a romanticized past, but in reality it's dangerous and modern improvements are good, actually.

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens.

Don’t think it won’t happen again when they come for the “undocumented.”
