likely leave from Calais, with a southerly element to the wind they arrive here, I’ve seen it even in early August. Some continental watch points have HBs moving north until mid August. It’s a time of year when non/failed breeders are drifting around, there will be more with the right conditions 😊
jamiepartridge.bsky.social
So moving into a headwind there, of course over land raptors love a headwind, here I only see them arrive off the channel with a tail wind,
jamiepartridge.bsky.social
Every July since moving here has been good for this. I believe they are non breeding birds wandering, possibly failed or pushed off other woodlands and just exploring, they arrive with ease in the right conditions.some continental watch points have HBs fly north until Aug.

Another 2 Honey buzzards in off the sea today, made landfall over Langdon hole and the eastern docks,Dover harbour. Both females, the first just after the sea fog cleared at 10.55, the 2nd at 13.15 #kentbirding a few blank days in light E and heavy SW winds since last posting
jamiepartridge.bsky.social
All 3cy+ yes but I believe non/failed breeders or at least birds not attached to territories and wandering. July always good for this here I’ve found.
