Today, it's hard to see them as they were meant to be seen. The versions on streaming and home media aren't quite the same films that ruled the '90s:

Wow. Who knew animated films could have mass appeal. Gee whiz it's almost like the female poc director was able to make the film she wanted to make and her vision flourished/grew in the hands of skilled artists, animators, musicians and actors without Ai being shoved down their collective throats.
