To be honest, I really love spending time with characters having absolutely normal ones in fantastical worlds. All my best times in life have been spent in the company of folks who have rejected the hero's journey in favor of resilient, resplendent togetherness.

There's the popular Arthur C. Clarke suggestion, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic," which I enjoy using the transitive property to explore the inverse of - I love spending time telling stories where sufficiently banal magic is indistinguishable from technology.

Because of the fishnet tights? Don’t worry, a lot of propane tanks go through a goth phase early in life but imo that’s usually a good sign that under the frosty steel exterior they’re actually sweethearts full of warm love.
