Daphne- clay and copper. Daphne was the daughter of the river god. She was beautiful and fiercely independent. Apollo wanted her from his own. Rather than submit, she prayed to her father for help and became a tree right before Apollo’s eyes.

Cicada- steel and clay. I just finished this commission. I’m happy with the sculpture overall. There a few things I would tweak if I did another one. But I need to keep in mind, perfect is the enemy of good (and great for that matter).

Spent 2 days wrapping my 50 yr old kiln with ceramic blanket like grandma in her chair with an afghan. I just need to coax one more season out it before I can hopefully afford a new one or admit that I might need to get an actual job. #ceramics #kiln #artistproblems #fml
