Current fav is Gliff, about 2 siblings trying to get away survive until their mother comes back to get them. Lots of questions about an authoritarian government and how they police they're people (very notable right now for UK and US). But also a very witty book and gives a great voice to both kids.

Scottish author. Often writes in a slightly experimental way, trying something new with each book. Like the Accidental: 3 sections giving us 3 different povs, each told in a different perspective. Or How to be Both, a split narrative about a boy looking at a painting and the ghost of the painter.

She's a blind spot for me too. Seems like a fun person if her twitter posts are anything to go by

Anyone you've been meaning to read for a while? I can definitely recommend Ali Smith if you don't have anyone in mind.
