At this point I think I would just like to move to China and see out my days there.

At first, @busuu.bsky.social seems like a @[email protected] knock off but the community features are rapidly winning me over. I do enjoy the gamification of Duolingo but feel it’s precisely that, a game.

I enjoy learning Chinese on Duolingo EXCEPT for the cursed sections that are Hanzi practice. At least I had double XP for todays graft and topping the leaderboard. Take that, Alice!

The UK only managed to join the world’s top 100 coffee shops at number 32 😤 https://theworlds100bestcoffeeshops.com/top-100-coffee-shops/

I don’t know what people have against Apple Intelligence summaries. I have them turned on for everything, for the sheer comedy value. Almost every summary is a laugh out loud moment 😆

I’m not sure when it changed but Phone Link on Windows now supports all notifications, call-handling and send/receive messages for iPhones. Something I’ve missed since switching from Mac a decade ago.

For all the talk by Meta, it seems Fediverse integration works a lot better across Mastodon and Bluesky and Mastodon (my server and many others) actively block federation with Meta. It would be useful to see Threads timeline in @openvibe.social though.

Aha! The (almost) same setting now appears on the iPad too

After a couple of years of enjoying a smaller phone (iPhone Pro), I have gone back to the Pro Max. The thing I notice the most is the weight.

I like this move by Apple to limit battery charging and that I can manually control it. If only Microsoft Surface made it this easy rather than rely on their dodgy AI for ‘smart’ charging

I almost caved and installed the company portal app and work email etc (which I have resisted for a year) but was saved by the top (five star) review for the app 🤣🤣

Hey Coffee Folk what’s my best options for early (pre 8am) coffee in central Edinburgh?

Question for @[email protected] users who have been using for a while. Do you feel this is an aid to languages learning or just a very addictive game? I’m new to it and on a 21 day streak.

Aha! I just read about @openvibe.social on TechCrunch and can now view a consolidated timeline of Bluesky, Mastodon and Threads in one app! It’s like FriendFeed days all over again! Hello EVERYONE 😊

Finally realised there is a way to group Apple podcasts in the app using ‘stations’ which is a much easier way for me to separate podcasts I play the latest episodes of from ones I am bingeing from the beginning. Yes, I am slow.

Wasn’t ready to leave the Cosmere so book 2 of 2025 was The Sunlit Man

A titan of a book. The breath-taking majesty of ambition that is #WindAndTruth, #TheStormlightArchive and #BrandonSanderson #Cosmere
😭😭😭😭😭

Sigh. A well written but flawed (for me) follow up.

A while back I stumbled across this research from Gartner’s Maverick Research branch which proposed that, by 2035, the worship of an AI will be the world’s fastest growing religion
