The EU must stand firm and set limits. If not, it will lose all its credibility.

Out of fear and self-interest, the EU is not reacting as it did when Russia invaded Ukraine. The EU must become independent from the US. If not, it will open doors for a continuing US interference in EU public policy and elections.

The US government must respect the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty and self-determination of peoples. By violating the UN Charter and international law, the US puts the entire international legal system is at risk.

✊ No to impunity. Peru cannot turn its back on the victims nor the right to truth and justice.

Boluarte is not only betraying the memory of the victims: she is jeopardizing Peru's commitment to human rights.

⚠️After accusing IACHR of “interference” Boluarte announced a plan to withdraw Peru from the IACHR > a serious threat to justice, the Constitution & international treaties Peru signed.

4/ The Opinion provides opportunities to define a set of standards for national climate strategies that can set the tone at the Cop30 in Brazil.🤞🌎

3/ Although the Opinion is not binding, we can speak of a historic step as it sets a legal precedent that opens doors to better protection of ecosystems, new strategic litigation cases & the promotion of the recognition of the rights of nature within national & local legal frameworks.

2/ ⚠️ The Opinion states that States must:
✅ Prevent & restore irreversible damage to humans and nature.
✅ Regulate emissions from business activities
✅ Adopt ambitious climate targets
✅ Protect environmental defenders
✅ Act with urgency and equity.
✅Collaborate to address the climate crisis

1/ 🌍 Also, for the 1st time, the Court recognizes that Nature and its components as a subject of right, marking a groundbreaking moment in the evolution of human rights and environmental jurisprudence.

This modification means that all the victims of the armed conflict, victims of the protests of 2020, 2022 and 2023, harassed journalists, assassinated indigenous leaders or environmental defenders will be left without defense.

This point was not included in the version approved by the Foreign Affairs Commission in June 2024. It was incorporated during the debate in the Plenary.

According to data from our partner @CNDDHH, between 1991 and 2024, Peruvian NGOs won at least 113 favorable rulings for victims of serious human rights violations before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

❌ It is not transparency, it is censorship. It restricts the right to denounce abuses and promote informed voting, weakening citizen control.
