My child was thrilled to learn today that with greater bed size comes even greater bedsheets.

September was one of my better months of writing this year with 10,007 words over 14 days. Not a bad report for @gywo.bsky.social

Made the "mistake" of going to my fave local bookstore to buy birthday presents on a T. Kingfisher release day. Couldn't resist buying a copy of What Stalks the Deep. So much for the resolution to just read what's on my shelves. Wish I could say I'm sorry, but @tkingfisher.com has me hooked.

I hope you all read this from me.

To describe the current state of the world as a daily show of deepening horrors is a massive understatement.

However, I read something today that I think more people should see and read.

I hope she doesn't mind my me sharing it here.

Real time location sharing with your spouse is amazing. I can look at my phone and make sure traffic wasn't so bad he's in danger of missing school pickup.

Also, as a parent, the "magic" markers that don't show up anywhere but the special paper.

Your poem presentation was one of my highlights of the ceremony! Thank you for how wonderful that was!

So so excited about this Hugo win! This was possibly the thing I was most excited about nominating and voting for this year. I loved Between Earth and Sky and you should all read it!

Friday Afternoon tea is legitimately fabulous. Most of my (extensive) tea cabinet is from them and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Glad you posted this thread. That was the panel at WorldCon where I've taken the most notes so far.

I'm so excited this story is out in the world! It's one of my favorites I've written to date and got me connected with the amazing folks at @dreamfoundry.bsky.social

Apparently this week marks 5 years with the most foolish of cats. Happy cativersary Pippin.

This is a bleak timeline, but thank goodness for Alexandra Petri
robkendt.bsky.social
Alexandra Petri's writing has such punch to it, not only in terms of content but form. In her best stuff, you can *hear* her voice, and this is one of her best.

Tagging the fine folks of @dreamfoundry.bsky.social who gave the story and award in 2023!

One of my favorite stories I've written to date is about teenage witches who practice in a suburban Chicken Express, and it's finally being published!!

Here's the amazing cover that looks awesome and is hilariously mismatched with the tone of my story that's in it!

Today my 3 year old asked me to sing him an X-Men song at bedtime, so on the spot I wrote Wolverine the Grumpy X-Man to the tune of Rudolph.

Why even sit down to write today? I've clearly hit my creative peak for the day.

Ooh good to know. I'm almost out of Key lime because it's soooo good for Arnold Palmers

Thank you @thestranger.com for covering the backflips my brain was doing to figure out where the heck the season finale of The Last of Us was supposed to take place.

You missed me spending the 2nd half of the episode yelling about how Ellie would have had hypothermia from her time in The Sound.
Get Us the Fuck Out of Apocalypse Seattle: Seattle’s Final Days in 'The Last of Us' Season Two
Well, on Sunday, May 25, the sophomore season of HBO’s The Last of Us ended with a literal bang, but an emotional whimper. With the season’s end comes the end of Seattle’s time in th...

Reminder to self and others, you are not an endless productivity machine. Getting stuck sometimes is supposed to happen
kjcharleswriter.com
This definitely, but also, sometimes you're stuck because you've done something wrong somewhere, and your writer brain knows it even if you don't. You need to find the reason for the stuckness.
kateheartfield.com
Getting stuck while we're writing is a feature, not a bug. It's the point of the exercise. It's what happens when we are trying to express something we have not expressed before. That friction forces us to make the tools we need to understand and express it. Getting stuck is how we make meaning.
