The Jane Austen plaque in Steventon Church, Hampshire where her father was rector and where she was christened in April 1776. Inside the peaceful interior of the church are memorial stones to Jane' friends and family including her brother James who was also rector.

11th Aug 1843, Jane Austen's sister-in-law, Mary, was buried at Steventon Church in a grave next to her husband, James Austen. Jane knew Mary from a girl and their friendship was sometimes strained but Mary was by Jane's bedside at the end of her short life.

In 1790 Jane Austen's brother, James, become curate at Overton, near her birthplace and home for 25 years at Steventon Rectory.
James lived in Court House which still stands next to St Mary's Church.
