“Palestine Action said two members had entered the Brize Norton base in Oxfordshire, putting paint into the engines of the Voyager aircraft and further damaging them with crowbars.”

It was inside the engine as well and they stated the aim was to put the plane ‘out of action’.
June 24, 2025 at 8:07 AM
It wasn’t just over the bodywork, it was inside the engine. It could have brought the plane down as well as costing £thousands to put right and taking the plane out of use.

I ordered some books over the phone from the very lovely @pagesofhackney at 4pm. They arrived with the postie the very next morning. I’m not sure how that’s even possible!

I often photo books in shops to get ideas & feel awful doing so. I want to wear a sign saying ‘I’m not going to buy them on Amazon I promise!’

I would have thought being able to wash and dress and use the toilet are core needs to personal dignity. But these score less than 4 PiP points so Starmer is removing these from people who need to pay carers to do it.

It is an ableist opinion, pure and simple. And to try and instil a stigma on using them is horrible.

ML likes that it is automatic so the 700k who don’t get PC (but should) don’t have to apply for it. Threshold now way too high imho but done for ease of administration I suspect.

It’s hard to tell from the pic but it does shrink down a lot when it’s dried out I promise! If you’re right tho I’d agree that beg, borrow rent or buy a shredder is the answer - unless you’ve got an area you can create a ‘wildlife haven’. Lots of things love garden waste!

We have a garden recycle bin. If you do - cut it into smaller bits. Fill it. Leave it in the sun for a day (lid open) to dry out/shrink. Get teenage son to climb in/on the bin and stomp down. Repeat for as long as it takes. We got nearly the same amount in ours over a week! (Two extra rubble sacks)

At the risk of being trite - it’s a poor workman etc..
When I think back to 1970s rainy Sundays at my gran’s, book finished and no others, everything shut, nothing on the (3) Tv channels. She asleep in the chair.
What I could’ve done with the internet…
June 2, 2025 at 8:41 AM
The internet is just a tool. How good, or not, it is depends on how you use it. Paul is absolutely correct.

That’s the kind of work I could get on board with! Jx

Check what it says about delivery. Happened to a friend of mine and small print said ‘room of choice’. Got some money back.

Every penny of those fines should be divided up and paid back to the customers.
May 28, 2025 at 3:46 PM
I’m with Thames. Our bills have just gone up nearly double. These fines do nothing. The service is still dreadful, investment is still pitiful and shareholder still get dividends and senior management massive bonuses. WE get punished with higher bills.
Not fit for purpose.

It what about my children’s health? My health? Why should our traffic double so they can have none? I support all measures to reduce cars, reduce speed, make areas more pleasant to live, fewer vehicles. But an LTN that benefits just one road, makes other surrounding roads infinitely worse. Fair?
May 28, 2025 at 3:35 PM
So an arbitrary decision makes their lives (and health) better and ours worse? How is that fair? I’ve lived here for decades. Longer probably than most on the other road. Why do I have to sacrifice my life? And the children at the school? Endangered so others live in new peace & quiet?
May 28, 2025 at 9:50 AM
And the buses? And the lorries? Did you read my post? Are you suggesting removing public transport? That goods can’t be delivered? Those are the things that a local LTN to us will affect the most. Things are seldom as simple as you’d like to believe.
