I’m a landlord, and I welcome it. Morally I just wouldn’t treat my tenants the way so many landlords do.

He’s miserable because the attention is not on him. It’s simple.

We tell our children not to lie, but everywhere it seems to be thought of as completely acceptable.

Nobody wants to be honest about how much all of this is going to cost, and how it will need to be funded. I’m afraid the tax payer won’t stomach it, and various governments know this.

Very good point! That would be marvellous for all of us! I’m not sure the pub bores who support Farage could stomach that. The skin heads would love it, but there aren’t enough of those.

Who’s willing to pay for the skilled, well paid work force we need?
January 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM
It’s kicking the can down the road again. The citizens of this country just will not want to fork out the very high bill they will have to pay for the sort of social care reforms most people know are needed. The government knows this.

Most people have also forgotten that Netanyahu is a fanatical populist who has convinced most of the Israeli population that what he is doing is the only way Israel can survive. Don’t blame ‘Israel’, blame Netanyahu and his cohort of fanatics.

I’ve achieved this, and it is, indeed, absolute bliss. But my husband and I are both retired from demanding jobs, and have more than enough money to live comfortably. It is a privilege I’m not sure many can afford.

So you’re saying people are turning to Reform because Labour is not promoting rejoining the EU?
December 30, 2024 at 6:00 PM
I wish I could be that optimistic. The symbolism of Brexit is really deep in so many people’s psyche. They would hate to have it pushed in their faces that they were wrong, which of course they were. Like all political parties Labour will have done their market research. Sad.

Do you think Labour would have won if they had a ‘rejoin’ message, rather than the ‘closer ties’ message they did have? I’d seriously like to hear your views on this, perhaps with evidence?

I do wonder about the new regime and women: they have roots in fundamentalism.
December 8, 2024 at 4:47 PM
Agree: they had to be cautious. Even promising closer ties was risky.

Brain ‘white noise’: fantastic description. It’s what I’ve lived with all my life. Exhausting.

They’re small businesses contracted to the NHS. Always have been. It was the only way GPs could be brought on side during the formation of the NHS, surely?

Surely the i is now another arm of the right wing press and will do anything to smear Starmer.

If there ever comes a time when I want to die, surely I should be given that opportunity. I may not be brave enough to make the choice, but I certainly think I have have the right to choose.

Is this a survey based on self reporting?

So what are those simple answers that the ‘left’ might want to promote?
