He's a rescued barn kitten so I think the smell of dirt reminds him of his childhood (he's seventeen now). He still hunts mice like a demon though he's an indoor cat and is intensely proud of himself every time when he catches on when we're outside. This is how he demands his wet food.

I do wonder about the coming schism between the "Trump is God" faction and those who actually follow the ten commandments specifically:
1) You shall have no gods before me.
2) You shall not make any idols to worship.
Not a Christian, but that's a pretty obvious conflict.
