3 years ago this week, the city of Kherson was liberated from Russian occupation.

Such joy. Desperately needed again.

Some of the pleasantries on display at today's "patriotic" Independence Day march in Warsaw, Poland, attended by the new President.

"White Europe or no Europe"
"Send [Prime Minister] Tusk back to Berlin"
"No to the Euro-Soviet Union" etc

The Pole in me should point out the fall of the Soviet Union was really in Poland a few months earlier, when on the 4 June the first (partially) free elections were held, peacefully ending communist rule in that country and setting an example for the rest of the block.

It's hard to have sympathy with these losses - but these are huge numbers.
And it is still incredible how much support Russia's war still maintains in Russian society despite this

First exit poll just out for the Presidential election in #Poland

Far too close..

This means final result will probably only become clear tomorrow

Exit poll from the Polish presidential election round One.

2nd round will be as predicted but from from certain what the result will then be.

If this poll is correct: 2nd went to place populist Right, 3rd and 4th hard/far Right. A depressing result. Much work in the next fortnight needed

Scathing and important letter of resignation.
The UK aid budget did *not* have to be cut in this way.

"The effect will be far greater than presented..
The cuts will see the UK pull out from many regions at a time when Russia has been aggressively increasing its global presence.."
