There is concerning bias in Translate, especially as they train towards LLMs which are sometimes intentionally made more conservative (I don't remember if Google is doing this yet but OpenAI definitely is). I'm not convinced it's the case here though

The odd fonts you see are probably different sets of unicode characters. I.e. what your see as an "A" is not encoded with the same bytes. I didn't look what's used here but cyrillic is similar, and was often used to avoid spam filtering / censorship: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyrilli...
