Language oppression is all about control. Welsh Nots a classic example,(from FB). I can't help but think of te reo Māori and the cr*p going on here. Re-Anglicising signs, govt dept names, passports. What a waste of $ trying to remove our bilingual heritage #nzpol #nz #cymru #language #tereoMāori

Seeing posts of travellers trying to drive NZ in 7 days. People need to take a look at the map and note the need to catch a ferry too. It's a small population but a spread out country!

Made a batch of Zimtsterne cinnamon stars for Matariki. Not a bad effort, though not as classy as the ones in the new @goodbitchesbake.bsky.social cookbook, Familiar Foods: Treats of Aotearoa gbb.org.nz/shop/familia...

15 years ago this was the opening paragraph of the Exec Summary of this 2010 report "New Zealand women’s
employment outcomes:
The relationship between working shorter hours
and low paid, female-dominated occupations" from NACEW.
Today's pay equity announcement takes us backwards.

Still have to pinch myself that we get to live so close to this. Early morning walks are so good for the soul.

'What are you doing, Isabella?' After a frantic few minutes trying to find 3yo little Miss. 'Reading to my baby Nana' - in an incredulous tone as if I was stupid 🥰

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them"
