And do they all wish to travel to the UK in the next month?
February 18, 2026 at 8:45 PM
Most appropriate
February 18, 2026 at 8:42 PM
Good luck!

It's often their children that fall into this category, but again, if you want to go there just apply for a passport.

Then you get one now.

Yes well bathtub gin did get a bit out of hand 😅
February 18, 2026 at 4:14 PM
Yes it's strange that.

All the well known alcohols like prune or poire williams began in someone's back room.....

Oh the French all have a bottle of something stashed away. 😆 Distilling is also highly regulated but wine production ensures there is always a good supply of eau de vie from skins. Plus a bit of distilling to make your own "gnole" is a bit of a national sport.

Definitely a peasant thing though, so properly non-U!

Yes! I did a bit of research and found this. I love how each region has its own traditional "home-made" alcohols. Here it's Quinquina, made with quinine bark.

That's a bit of a tenuous link I must say. It's like if the BBC got Gino D'Acampo to commentate. Just weird.

Oh I've not come across that! But they do make sloe (prunelle) liqueur made with eau de vie rather than gin.

Everyone howling for more control over immigration, then howling with indignation when they put something in place to do just that. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. And it's been planned for nearly 2 years, so they probably weren't anticipating this level of flames.....

What does he know about sport??
February 18, 2026 at 2:03 PM
Yes, an airline will refuse to board you if you can't present the correct documents.
February 18, 2026 at 2:02 PM
A few people will be caught out when travelling because a new rule that was announced a year ago is about to be enforced.
February 18, 2026 at 10:54 AM
Yes I don't know why they took this angle. It applies to everyone.
February 18, 2026 at 10:49 AM
And British passports aren't "automatically issued" to anyone. It also costs £482 to renounce British citizenship. How is that better than paying £100 for a passport? 🤦
February 18, 2026 at 10:43 AM
Absolute nonsense.
February 18, 2026 at 10:39 AM
You bet
February 18, 2026 at 8:31 AM
Actually some of those variants sound amazing.
