Christmas season was always a joyful time to visit my parents in the Retirement Home with so much activity, decorations, choirs visiting , and the jolly visitor himself…Santa Clause. It was so heart warming to see the smiles on the faces of the elderly residents!

Remembering the amazing, caring , conscientious caregivers who were there for my parents, while they struggled with dementia. . They were Nurses, PSWs, Physiotherapists, Housekeepers, Cooks , Recreation Therapists and many more ! I wonder still ,did I thank them enough ? 💜

When a loved one with dementia says ‘I want to go home’ what does that really mean? Is it her former home she misses, or her childhood home? I used to say to my mom ‘you are home’ but now I think that was wrong. Perhaps what she truly meant was ‘ I need to feel safe’.
