“What did you do today?” My new rescue cat fell asleep in a dish, and all I could do was stare at her #cats

Day 6 #30dayswild. This is the view I see every morning as I make my way to the kitchen. The foxgloves with the glowing dogwood bracts behind always stop me in my tracks. Then a craving for tea takes over, and I’m back in reality. For a second, though, I’m somewhere else. #naturewriting

Day 5 #30dayswild between the showers, a single butterfly. Now? Blackbird and wood pigeon singing in the rain and foxgloves nodding - loving this long awaited drink. Overhead, the rescue helicopter circles again, searching for a local man gone missing. Still holding onto hope. #naturethreads

Day 4 of #30DaysWild and I’ve been watching tadpoles. Some haven’t changed a bit (no legs, tails intact) and I’m wondering why - when some are already tiny frogs. They glint as if they’ve been dusted with gold. Like an elaborate amphibian craft project. Beautiful, but strange. #naturethread

Day 3 of #30dayswild started with torrential rain and ended with a walk through fields of gold on Cranborne Chase.

Day 2 #30dayswild. Surprised to see a wool carder bee on the foxgloves. Worked by the pond. The dogwood bracts at their very best. Ember doing her best panther impression. Added to @encounternature.bsky.social for memories. #encounternatureapp #dorset #garden #naturewriting #nature

Day 1 of @thewildlifetrusts #30dayswild and I’m using the #encounter app to journal what I do and see each day. Today… cold swim at #lulworthcove at 7, buttercups with solitary bees, green, green Dorset and caterpillars on figwort leaves.

That's a pretty good start for our Encounter Nature app, no? So many lovely comments about the difference it is making to people and how they love the posts and journals. Very gratifying. We are looking for partners for relevant content so do get in touch if interested www.encounter-nature.com

To the carers, who haven’t had a chance yet to have a cup of tea, to those who have lost loved ones, and wish that Christmas didn’t exist, and to those who are alone and are craving the sound of a voice. The song thrush was singing this morning in the dark. He’s singing for us. 🥰

Today. THIS is a must read, and a must act on, report.
On a day when house building is in the news, we publish a new report - LOST NATURE.

In it, we asked if housing developers have been delivering their ecological commitments.

Answer: NO.
