Hello there! I’m an engineer in infrastructure and transport working on decarbonisation, electrification, biodiversity net gain and resilience. Will be talking supply chain emissions, systems infrastructure planning, and getting young people excited about engineering and climate careers.

Two questions for the Chancellor: 1) have the plans for airport expansion been reviewed against the UK’s climate law? 2) and why not wait for the @thecccuk.bsky.social 6th carbon budget next month?
Delays/legal challenge are written all over this rather than the speed gov. wants…feels a misstep.

The @thecccuk.bsky.social has suggested that SAFs may play a role in the future, but that demand will have to be constrained to meet aviation ghg targets.
In short, supporting another runway at Heathrow would mean that commensurate capacity will have to be reduced from airports elsewhere.
