I keep an eye out in charity shops hoping that one day I’ll bag a bargain! I really enjoyed the ones I do have. Laverock Lilting and Bees of Drumwhinnie are charming with only tenuous connections with the later ones. I’m hoping to do a DFB visit to the Largs area at some point next year 🤞

I really like the early CS books but they definitely deteriorate towards the end of the series. I agree that DFB is a better writer but her books never had the boost of becoming paperbacks from the 1960s onwards like EBD and Angela Brazil. I don’t have the first 2 rare and expensive Colmskirk books.

Her books were my favourite as a child after I inherited my mum’s copies. In the last few years I’ve expanded my collection to include the Colmskirk novels and I’m currently thoroughly enjoying a Dimsie read through. It’s great to find others who appreciate her. There is a FB group too 😁📚
